The Vocal Code exists to support singers in building professional, sustainable careers in today’s music industry. Being a backing vocalist — or a working singer in any capacity — is about far more than vocal ability. It requires clarity, professionalism, systems, and an understanding of how the industry truly operates. Our mission is to raise standards within the vocal profession by equipping singers with the knowledge, structure, and confidence they need to work, earn, and last. MEET THE TEAM
ADETOUN AYOOLA
Founder and Director
Adetoun is an experienced vocalist, mentor and consultant. Adetoun's vocals have featured on numerous albums, adverts and film projects with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Kano, Ellie Goulding, Seal and Leona Lewis to name a few. Over the past decade in the business she realised there wasn't enough info on how to get into the scene, how to be business focused or how to protect her work as a successful backing vocalist. As the director of The Vocal Code Adetoun advocates for fairer remuneration and contracted sessions across the board to ensure that vocalists operate with a good level of business acumen to unlock the full working potential for session vocalists.

Katie is an accomplished vocalist and vocal coach touring and performing globally with the likes of Adele, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue, Olly Murs and more recently Years & Years.
As the Vocal Director of the Vocal Code, Katie uses her expertise and experience to prepare future vocalists for the industry as artists and backing vocalists.
